Funeral Services for Mrs. Smith will be held Friday, February 10, 2012 at 2:00 PM in the Spirit Of Truth Christian Church, 301 Sunset Drive, Columbia, SC.

Sister Lillie Mae Owens was born on July 23, 1953 in Allendale, SC to hattie Mae Owens and the late Joseph Owens.

Lillie was united in Holy Matrimony to the late Jerome "Roni" Smith. She was preceded in death by not only her father and husband but also by a sister, Mary Jo Owens; and a grandson, Alvrius Dalvin Singletary.

She graduated from Allendale-Fairfax High in Allendale, SC. At an early age she joined Happy Home Baptist Church. She later moved to Columbia, SC where she attended USC for two years and later went to work as an officer with the SC Department of Corrections.

In March of 2007, Sister Lillie found her home and was a faithful member of the Spirit of Truth Christian Church. She was very active and served on several ministries: Greeters ministry, Call Care, Nursing home, Feeding for the Sick and Shut In, Thrift Store Attendant and Senior Choir.

Sister Lillie was a woman of strength whom rarely, if ever complained. She always had a smile and encouraging words. She left a beautiful legacy of how life should be lived and loved.

Sister Lillie leaves to cherish her precious memory; her mother, Hattie Mae Owens (Wallace Priester) of Allendale, SC; three daughters, Veronica (James) Owens-Singletary, Victoria Smith, both of Hampton, SC, and one sister, Sadie Ruth (Larry) Rhett of Union, SC; seven grandchildren, Lakeeya Ervin and Ashley Wroten both of Columbia, SC; Joya, DeVante, Jada and Jorya Singletary and Tryianna Joyner all of hampton, SC; two nephews, Ronald (Tonya) Rhett of Columbia, SC; Jeffery Rhett of Greenville, SC; and one niece, Latasha Rhett of Union, SC.
