Mr. Richard Gregg, Sr.(June 24, 1932 - January 10, 2012)
Funeral services for Mr. Richard “Ray” Gregg, Sr. will be held onSaturday, January 14, 2012 at 11:00 am in the Sidney Park CME Church, 1114Blanding Street, Columbia, SC 29201.
Mr. Richard Gregg, Sr., of Columbia, South Carolina, departed thisearthly life on Tuesday, January 10, 2012. He was born on June 24, 1932 in Elliot, South Carolina. He was the son of Hattie Freeman and Harvey Gregg.
Richard was affectionately referred to by family and friends as“Ray.” Richard was united in marriage to the late Rosetta Pinckney and to thisunion three children were born. He waslater married to the late Juanita Sumter-Gregg.
Richard was a member of Sidney Park C.M.E. Church and a faithfulmember of the Usher Board for several years. He was a brick mason by trade. Heenjoyed fishing, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and nine of his brothersand sisters.
Mr. Richard Gregg, Sr. leaves to cherish his precious memory: oneson, Richard (Lue) Gregg, Jr., ofFayetteville, NC; three daughters, Sonja Ash, of Albany, GA, Valerie Gregg and Lavernetta Gregg, both of Columbia, SC; three sisters, Maybelle Bowman, EthelAllen and Eloise Ashley all of Columbia, SC; two brothers, Marion Gregg Jr. of Lynchburg, SC and Willie“Buck” Gregg of Columbia, SC; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren,in-laws, nieces, nephews, other loving relatives and caring friends, all of whom will miss him dearly.
