Alice "Faye" Govens(January 12, 1949 - December 26,2011)
Alice was born in Hickory Grove on January 13, 1949. She was the daughter of the late John Allen and the late Lethia Logan Nichols. She departed this earthly dwelling on December 26, 2011, to join her Heavenly Father.
Affectionately known as Faye, Alice was educated in the York County school system. She attended Benedict College and Midlands Technical College following high school graduation. She was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Columbia. Faye served faithfully for many years as: the Vacation Bible School director, Sunday School teacher, and member of the Usher Board.
Alice Faye Nichols Gordon Govens was preceded by her mother and father, her sister Mary Ann (Sack) Dawkins, and a very special friend Leroy Simpson.
Left to cherish her memory are: four children, Melissa Gordon Brinson , Yusef Gordon, Yukisha “NeNe” Reynolds, and Cartney “Tony” Gordon; two brothers, James Nichols of Hickory Grove, SC, and Lenzey Carrol Nichols of Gastonia, NC; two uncles RJ (Mamie) Nichols and Thiery (Margie)Nichols; and a great aunt, Jet Lou Meeks. She also leaves five grandchildren; Brandon Govens, William Reynolds, Morgan Brinson, Sydneitra Jones, Jaeisha Randolph, and Autumn Reynolds; one great granddaughter, Malaysia Hopkins; one niece, Monica Dawkins Tate; four nephews, Chris Dawkins, Jesse Dixon, Mark Dawkins, and Shon Dawkins; and a host of cousins and friends.
