Sgt. Sammie Belton(November 29, 1945 - January21, 2012)
Funeral services for Mr. Sammie Belton will be held Graveside at 2:00PM Monday, January 30, 2012 in the Fort Jackson National Cemetery.
Sgt. Sammie Belton, son to the late Mr. Ruben and Mrs.Mattie Manning Belton, was born November 29, 1945 in Columbia, South Carolina.Sammie peacefully departed this life to be with the Lord on Saturday, January21, 2012 at the Palmetto Health Richland Hospital.
After completion of High School, Sammie joined the U.S. Armycompleting two terms in the Vietnam War where he retired will full honors aftermany years of service. He also retired from the Baptist Hospital after 34 yearsof service as an environmental supervisor.
Sammie was preceded in death by his mother, Mattie Belton,father, Ruben Belton and two brothers, McKinnly and James Belton.
Sammie Belton leaves to cherish his memories four daughters,Beverly Belton- Douglas, Columbia, SC, Nichelle Belton Welton, Columbia, SC,Monique Belton, Ackworth, GA and Sheryl Parker, Columbia, SC; three sons, James Harkless, Sammie Parker and Antonio Parker, all of Columbia, SC; one brother,Rev. Claude Belton; four sisters, Louise Belton, Ruby Henry, Nannie Benn and Matilda (Curtis) Gibbs, 17 grandchildren and a host of other relatives andfriends.
